BACKGROUND: Plays electric guitar, bass guitar and vocals. Started her first punk rock band when she was 14 and have been playing in different bands since then. Now Canan mostly plays in Twin Pigs, a punk rock hardcore outfit from Stockholm. Former bands: Satirnine, Fare You Well, Tiger Bell, Attention Span, Guessing.
SESSION: First round in Session II, recording in late Match. Band meetings for Canans crew starts in January.
What can we expect from your session?
Hopefully a lot of fun! And ROCK! The bunch of people in the band I put together for this are awesome musicians. I’m really looking forward to get to know them and to write a killer song together.

What kind of band leader will you be?
I guess I will try to be the kind of leader I appreciate myself. So I will try to focus on communication since it’s my belief that it’s the key ingredient to almost everything. But also to trust people to do their thing. And last but not least: having fun together!
What does riot grrrl mean to you?
Riot grrrl is like a safe space for me. It’s empowering and gives me courage and strength to do things that I might not always have the gut to in the ordinary fucked up music business. Riot grrrl also reminds me that many people before me have fought the patriarchy to try to make this world a better place and it makes me want to keep on fighting too, for us and for future generations! It’s a great way to find like-minded people too. Riot grrrl brings people together, like a community that has no walls, borders, limits.
I believe that within the riot grrrl movement it’s always gonna be ok to be whatever way you want, and that’s the kind of world I wanna live in.

My favorite song of all times: Volcano Girls by Veruca Salt!
What is your most useless talent?
Hahaha, tough one! Is it really a talent if it’s useless? But ok, if flaring my nostrils qualifies as a talent I’d go with that.
